Areas of focus
Our focus is on programs and organizations addressing needs in communities where Greif has a physical presence. These focus areas are:
- Family,
- Health and human services,
- Education, and
- Youth.
Funding for capital improvement projects and endowments are a low priority.
Types of contributions
Cash, product or in-kind donations, including salvage and surplus items
Our social responsibility activities include:
- Educational assistance to the children of qualifying employees.
- Student sponsorships at the WITS Business School and the Institute of Packaging.
- The Bernard Van Leer Foundation, which supports about two hundred projects focusing on early childhood development. The foundation is also involved in projects to combat the HIV/AIDS epidemic.
- The Living Waters Ministries, a project that provides schooling for children in informal settlements.
- Twice-as-Nice, a children’s development programme.
- The Vaal Community Chest, a project that provides diverse assistance to previously disadvantaged persons.
